I love homemade play dough. I used to make it with my students, and really looked forward to it. It feels better than store bought, smells nicer, and is harmless if eaten. So, we made another batch!
Here’s what you need:
2 cups water
1 cup salt
1 tablespoon oil
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
Have your child measure each of the above ingredients into a pot (except food coloring – save that for later). Have them mix it.
Put it on the stove over medium heat and stir constantly until it is difficult to mix, like mashed potatoes. Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes.
I like to place it into large plastic zipper bags and let the kids add drops of food coloring. We seal the bags and they incorporate the food coloring that way to avoid very messy hands. Then we remove it from the bag and get playing!!!!
